Holland House Library, London, September 1940. I wasn't able to locate the name of the photographer.
When I reading books like Blackout and All Clear, set in London during WWII, this is the sort of scene I tend to imagine. "Keep Calm and Carry On" and suchlike. Holland House was a large mansion near Holland Park in London, built in the 17th century and largely destroyed in the Blitz, when it was struck by twenty-two incendiary bombs. However, the library somehow survived with the shelves intact.
