(Oops, I skipped Day 1 of Book Blogger Appreciation Week. My bad! Maybe I'll get a chance to do the entry later.)
Book Blogger Appreciation Week, in case you missed my earlier post, is a fun little event being run by the blog My Friend Amy. It's a fun celebration of books and reading, bloggers and readers, fun and giveaways galore. Check it out if you haven't already!
For Day 2, bloggers were randomly selected to interview each other, and my lovely partner was Kelsey of Reading Keeps You Sane . While I'm not sure I can agree with her title - reading certainly hasn't helped MY sanity any - I'm certainly impressed that this junior high student has the dedication to update her blog regularly! But enough from me: here she is to introduce herself!
Well, my name is Kelsey. I'm 13, almost 14 and I LOVE to read. I started my blog, Reading Keeps You Sane at the end of January of this year. My dad was in the military since before I was born, I've lived in a bunch of different states and even in Germany. I have a dog named Tucker, who I love dearly. My favorite colors are Purple, Blue, and Green. I can't STAND cherries. I HATE them. And yeah, I think that's enough random things.
FP: So, Kelsey. Why a book blog? What got you into this?
Well, I like to have something to call my own, I like to be in the new things that are going around. So, I once then discovered a book site for the books that I like to read. There were a ton of girls my age who loved to read the books I love to read. Some of them, had just started a book reviewing blog, so I thought, on boring Sunday night in January, why not? That was when I started my blog for book reviewing. Books because my life is nothing exciting for anybody to be interested in reading about my life, and I've always loved to write, so I added them both together and I know have a more successful blog then I ever imagined.
FP: This question sort've answered itself as I got to know you, but what the heck, let's ask it anyway. Why did you decide to focus on young adult books?
I LOVE to read Young Adult. I love love love it. Young Adult is amazing and the authors are awesome. I love to read about people going through High School. Although, I'm not yet in High School, it really feels like I am already from all the things I've read in these books and the fun. It's just amazing. YA is the best and I don't think I'll ever grow out of it.
FP: Of all the books you read, what percentage would you guess get reviewed?
I review all of the books I read, well, not the ones I read in school. I discuss those books already too much in class, hehe.
FP: Heh. My classmates were always fans of staring blankly at the teacher during discussion. Maybe they never read the assigned topics...well, speaking of unread books what's in your TBR (To Be Read) pile right now?
Hmm, well, I'm currently reading Where People Like Us Live by Patricia Cumbie, then I plan to read Pretty Things by Sarra Manning, All We Know of Heaven by Jacquelyn Mitchard, Sleepless by Terri Clark, Fabulous Terrible by Sophie Talbot, Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard, I Was a Teenage Popsicle and Beyond Cool by Bev Kats Rosenbaum and Model by Cheryl Diamond and The Blonde of the Joke by Bennett Madison, Freaksville by Kitty Keswick, and a few more, I'm getting Book Swim for my birthday in November, so I'll be getting a ton of new books to read.
FP: Very cool, that's quite a few titles there! What upcoming release are you really looking forward to?
Well, I'm pretty excited for the last Princess Diaries book, Forever Princess, and the sequel to her new series, Being Nikki, also In Too Deep, You Are So Undead to Me, Fade. And maybe Evermore from what the cover looks like, I have no idea what the book is about. Oh and Elizabeth's Scott's new book, Living Dead Girl. Breathing by Cheryl Renee Herbsman sounds amazing too.
FP: If you had to pick just one, what is your favorite thing you've written or created for your blog?
Well, my layouts are pretty awesome, but I don't do them, my talented mom does. I am always so amazed by my reviews. But I really don't thing there is one thing specifically I could pick that I love that I've written or created. But, I think that my favorite thing about my blog is the blog it self, these past few months with it, and all the awesome people I've met, it's such a great accomplishment, it's a favorite. Oh, jeez, that doesn't make sense does it? =D
FP: Sense is overrated in this world, if you ask me. So let's end with some silliness: if you were a drink, what would you be, and why?
Wow, what an interesting question, I'd think I'd pick lemonade. Because it's refreshing and well, I just love lemonade, :).
Thanks for your time, Kelsey! Drop by Reading Keeps You Sane and give her the Piranha bump!
